SHINA DEGUCCI, ASID
I approach design as a lifestyle. Life itself is both new & old, bright & dark, cold & warm, broken & intact. At its best, it’s a balance of these polarities. Then my job becomes how to find this balance so that a space can imbue its harmony on the inhabitant. -SD
Shina grew up all over the world, namely Tokyo, Paris, and Sydney. She speaks multiple languages and has a BA from UPENN. She continued her education at UCLA and has a degree in Environmental & Interior Design. Her mentors are Mary and Marion Philpotts, whom she had the privilege of apprenticing with before going solo.
Although a nomad at heart, she is currently based in Hawaii where she was born. Her approach is multi-cultural and multi-layered, with a deep respect and sensitivity to topography, art, architecture, and historical context.
In addition to formal training and experience in design, her decades-long practices in meditation have honed her intuition, which she considers to be the most valuable faculty she brings to the table. Her intuitive process means layers unfold organically, much like a flower unfurling its petals, to reveal its full vision in the end.
